For the past decades, plenty of new innovations was made to make our life easier. Technologies are developed to make things faster. The experience that we normally enjoyed in a relaxed environment, together with our families and loved ones such as having a meal together, now have completely different alternatives.
Now we have fast-food that we can enjoy alone. We have things called Fast Moving Consumer Goods. The life span of a product becomes shorter and shorter.
The new and improved version keeps coming out and in a matter of a couple of years, a brand-new product can become obsolete in a short time.
The same thing also happens in people’s skills and knowledge. The advanced technologies and new breakthroughs make us must keep improving ourselves constantly to keep relevant.
Many jobs have now been replaced by technologies, since it will make things still run effectively while being more efficient.
It is hard to keep up with all these changes, but unfortunately, mostly we don’t have many choices since we had to adapt by keep moving forward, keep on learning, and improving ourselves to keep up with others.

In this post, we will talk about 9 different ways of improving ourselves every day in this fast-changing environment, without being overwhelmed and stressed ourselves out.
So, let’s get starting!
1. Be Consistent and Persistent
The first thing you need to know is that improving ourselves is an ongoing process, that we need to keep doing for the rest of our lives. Keep in mind that this is a marathon, not a sprint.
You need to keep moving forward. Slow and steady but keep on moving until you reach the end is better than a sprint and give up before you touch the finish line. So what is the finish line? I would say it will be your goal.
Have a short-term and long-term goal. Try to map out the things you need to do to achieve them and start take action, one step at a time. Assess your every move. Find out why certain things work but the others don’t and learn from your mistakes.
If you fail, don’t give up, get up, and try again. When you finally achieve your long-term goal, it is ok to stop moving for a while. Sit back and enjoy it. Reward yourself, you deserved it.
But don’t get too comfortable. Set yourself another goal and repeat the process all over again, with a new goal in mind. You want to keep consistently moving forward, challenge yourself, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and keep making yourself better than you were yesterday.
2. Do Not Rely on Luck
I personally believe that there’s no such thing as luck. If you feel like you are getting lucky, it was perhaps a combination of preparation meets an opportunity. Make a habit of writing a “to-do list” and start preparing and doing all the things you have written in it.
If you don’t, the list will only be a list. But when you do them, one by one, you will find things or people along the way who could help you move one step closer to your goal. And that will not be merely a bit of luck. It is your effort that brings them to you.
3. Learn from Your Mistakes
The only way to improve tomorrow and be better is to learn from today’s mistakes. Admit what you did wrong today, embrace it, and learn from it, so that you will not make the same mistake twice. See how you can do it differently and how to improve yourself.
One of the best ways to learn is to listen to others. Pay attention to what they have to say. It might be something big or some area that you feel the need to improve the most. Keep notes on your progress. Be patient and kind to yourself.
Remember, it’s a working progress, and even an attempt you make on improvement is already an improvement itself
4. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Don’t get caught in the “Keeping up with the Joneses” way of life. We need to understand that everybody walks in different shoes and walks on different grounds. We all have our own timelines. Some people excel in life early, some will have to wait a bit longer.
Some people excel in a certain area, some excel in different areas. Everybody has a different journey and must fight different battles. Comparing yourself with others is useless and you will gain nothing but exhausting yourself.
5. Don’t Worry Too Much
There are proverbs saying, “worrying about the future problems will only take away today’s peace”. Or “Tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift”. We need to stop worrying. Most of our worry is not going to happen and we can handle the rest.
Do the best we can and stop worrying about the things we can’t control. Another important note is to stop worrying about what other people have to say. You cannot please everybody.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. As long as you do something positive and you have done your best, it doesn’t matter what people say.
6. Love Yourself
You are uniquely you. Be comfortable with yourself. Embrace the ones who accept you for the way you are and appreciate the ones who don’t. But don’t just dismiss them.
Maybe they have a point to consider. Improve on the things you want to improve to be a better version of yourself, to be better than who you are before.
Learn new things, see other cultures, travel to places you’ve never been to before, do the things you could never imagine doing. The more you appreciate yourself, the more comfortable you are in your own skin.
You will also have more confidence in who you are as a person, have more confidence to pursue your dreams, and conquer your fears. And in the end, you will enjoy your life more.

7. Maintain a Healthy Mind
Be positive. Try to maintain a positive outlook towards all different aspects of your life. Have a “can-do” attitude. Be open-minded towards anything, especially towards unfamiliar things, or people who are completely different than you.
Meditate, pray, do yoga, or anything that will put your mind at ease. When your mind is at ease, you will relax and have more energy to tackle everything that needs to be done in your life.
8. And a Healthy Body
Take care of your body as well. Exercise regularly. Eat healthily. Try to be physically fit and get yourself that physical shape you always want to have.
When you feel healthy and feel good about how you look, it will be easier to maintain a positive outlook in life.
Physically, you will be able to do the things you were not able to do before since you were always losing your breath, such as trekking, start learning martial arts, wall climbing, et cetera.
With better physical conditions, your life will also improve in many ways, more than you could ever imagine.
9. Surround Yourself with Positive People
Avoid toxic people, people who will drag you down instead of lifting your spirit and believe in you. But remember, a toxic person is different than a “designated a**hole friend”.
We still need this kind of friend. Someone who will tell things the way it is. Someone who will not be going to sugarcoat things, and tell you the things you need to hear, instead of what you want to hear.
A toxic person will only criticize you without pointing where we need to improve or give a constructive output whatsoever.
They have toxic personalities and will constantly bother us with their problem. The more time you spent with them, the more miserable you feel.
Cut them off from your life if you could. Avoid them as much as you can. Life is too short to spend with a toxic company. There is no place for these kinds of people in your life if you want to enjoy it to the fullest.

Over To You
Those are the 9 things that we could do every day to improve ourselves. Some are easier to do, others not so much. Some will come naturally, but unfortunately, for some others, we will need to put in extra effort to manage to pull it off.
Some people will find most of those things easy to do, others might have to struggle a bit more. Everybody has their own pace and timelines, and as mentioned above, we need to stop comparing ourselves to others.
The important thing is that we need to keep on trying to improve and to enjoy our life and be the best we can be.
I hope you find this post useful. What do you think about those points? Do you agree? Do you have another point to add? Something which is more relevant for you and your situation? Leave a comment down below, I will be happy to hear from you.
